We’re excited to announce the launch of our Deli Lunch here at Green Park Brasserie

• The regularly changing menu will include freshly made tarts, salads, falafels, pastas, quiches, home made sausage rolls and more

• The Deli Lunch will be available to eat in or takeaway

• The Deli lunch menu will be available from 12-2.30pm Monday to Saturday

As well as running a selection of Brasserie classic dishes at lunch time (Burger, Fish Pie, Omelette, Caesar Salad), the casual Deli Lunch will be served from the Brasserie bar; as we move to an informal order and pay at the bar service for lunch service.

The Deli Lunch will change throughout the week and will offer freshly prepared food from the Brasserie kitchen including a Worthy Farm Cheddar and Tomato Tart, a Somerset Pork & Apple Sausage Roll, Pasta Salads, Quiches, Mixed Leaf Salads and more.

Head Chef, Steve Derry said: “everything is freshly made and prepared by us with a range of vegetarian and vegan option. The Deli lunch now offers our customers a more casual, fast lunch option with fresh light salads, tarts, pasta, quiches and cuts of meat; and is available to takeaway as well for those looking to grab something quickly and head back to the office.”

Customers can choose 4 Deli items for £10 which includes a main and 3 sides; alternatively the dishes are priced individually with salads from £2 and mains from £4.

The Bath Farmers’ Market is the oldest farmers’ market in the UK and is located a matter of metres from our kitchen. Here, we’re able to buy directly from Bath’s best ahead of the Sunday Roast from the likes of Chris Rich Fruit & Veg (pictured) and Sandridge Farmhouse.

Sunday Roast: Beef & Chicken

Regarded as the Rolls Royce choice of the Sunday Toast, our Topside packs fantastic flavour and is our most popular Sunday Roast lunch meat. Sweet and tender, the beef cut is well seasoned with salt and pepper, garlic and rested briefly before being served alongside our Yorkshire pudding and Sunday Roast vegetables. Our Sunday Roast Chicken breast is seasoned lightly with lemon juice, salt and pepper and white wine before being seared on our grill and then cooked through in the oven. Perfect with our seasonal vegetables our Sunday Roast chicken is very popular through the summer months.

We take roast potatoes very seriously - often the make or break of a Sunday Roast our chefs expertly prepare our potatoes with seasoning, oil and herbs - but lightly enough not to draw attention away from the roast chicken or roast beef. We’ve been shortlisted for the 2019 Bath Life Awards (Best Restaurant in Bath) for the second year running - could this be our year?

We’re proud to be one of Bath’s longest standing independent restaurants, known for our live music, locally sourced menu and stunning venue. 2018 was an exciting year for us, some of our highlights can be viewed here.

Not only do the Bath Life Awards celebrate the best restaurants in Bath, but the best of city including retail, business, arts, education, property and many more industry sectors.

We’re delighted to be shortlisted for the award again this year having picked up the title of Bath Life’s Best Restaurant in Bath a few years ago.

2018 was another successful year for Green Park Brasserie with owner Andrew Peters a finalist for Bath’s Entrepreneur of the Year at the Bath Business Awards and our sister business Bath Pizza Co a finalist at the European Pizza Chef of the Year Awards. We also developed fresh menus, new charity and local producer and farmer partnerships, supported Bath Festivals, Pub in the Park, Bath Film, Bath Fringe and Bath Folk Festivals and put on over 200 nights of live music, both inside the Brasserie, and alfresco for the summer sessions at Bath Pizza Co.

A big thank you to all of our customers and team who have helped us make the shortlist, and good luck to the other outstanding Bath restaurants who made the cut: The Bath Priory Hotel, Corkage Chapel Row, The Dower House Restaurant, The Ivy Bath Brasserie, Lucknam Park, Noya's Kitchen, The Scallop Shell and Thai Barn.

What a year it’s been. We’d like to say a huge thank you to our fantastic customers and team who’ve made it a year to remember.

As well as producing our core offer of excellent food and live music 4 nights a week, we’ve hosted some wonderful events and entered new business partnerships working with some of Bath’s brilliant people and organisations.

Party in the City (Bath Festivals) at Green Park Brasserie

We’ve also achieved some personal milestones along the way: the Brasserie team earned a recommendation in The Times, Bath Pizza Co competed at The European Pizza Chef of the Year Finals and Bath Function Rooms has this past year become one of Bath’s most popular event spaces for parties, dinners, weddings and businesses events.

Here, we look back from January through to December at some of the year’s highlights.

January: Bath Pizza Co on Tour

The Brasserie’s Bath Pizza Co team took a trip to Napoli to explore pizza culture at the start of the year. Visiting some of the world’s most popular pizzerias and inspiring new ideas, the team brought back some brilliant insight from the home of pizza to set them up for a very busy year with new menu favourites.

February: Finalists & Olympic Partnership

2018 saw the Brasserie nominated for a number of awards and was also shortlisted for the UK’s most romantic restaurant (for the second year running). Having claimed the title in 2017 we were also finalists at the Bath Life Awards (Best Restaurant in Bath), the Crumbs Awards (Best Casual Dining Restaurant) and featured in The Bath Magazine’s ‘Delicious Guide.’

A huge thank you to our customers who recommended us for these prestigious awards.

February also saw a new partnership for Bath Pizza Co with local Olympian, Ben Fletcher, a partnership that would see the launch of a charity campaign with Bath Mind later in the year. The campaign has raised funds and awareness of the local mental health charity with an estimated 20,000 customers reading about Bath Mind on the Bath Pizza Co menu.

March: Spring Menu

Despite the heavy snowfall of early March, the kitchen shifted into Spring menu mode, refreshing the Brasserie’s main menu with new dishes and seasonal twists on some of our most popular dishes.

Continuing to work closely with our farmers and producers in Bath and the South West, the Brasserie chefs launched some of our most popular dishes to date, including our Pan Fried Barbary Duck dish and our Spinach, Mint & Parsley Falafel.

We also launched one of our most popular Brasserie special desserts, a Wild Elderflower & Raspberry Jelly with a Raspberry Mascarpone.

April: kicking off Summer Sessions

Alfresco live music sessions launched at Bath Pizza Co with Bath’s Isobel Holly kicking off the 5 month long season. Every Thursday Bath Pizza Co welcomed a number of acoustic musicians and bands alongside some of the Brasserie’s established jazz, swing and funk groups.

The live music Thursday evenings rolled into Festival Season with some of Bath’s best events coming to play at Green Park Brasserie and Bath Pizza Co.

May: Festival Season in full swing

Festival season kicked off in full swing with Bath Festivals’ Party in the City coming to Green Park Station. With live music and performances from 6.30pm through to 1am we had one of our most popular evenings of the year with live music, swing dancing and a whole host of Bath and Bristol bands playing through the night.

Thank you to all who made it one of the most memorable nights in recent memory. We also hosted part of the Jane Austen Festival with events at Bath Function Rooms, directly above our restaurant.

June: keeping it local

The Brasserie chefs took a trip to one of our longest standing suppliers - Hugh and Celia at Newton Farm in Newton St. Loe. Just 3 miles from our kitchen High and Celia have been producing outstanding steak cuts for our menu for years. We’re looking forward to meeting more farmers and producers in 2019.

With festival season ongoing, we also welcomed the Bath Fringe Festival and more live music groups as we entered into one of the longest and hottest summers in recent years.

July: Visually celebrating the best of Bath and the South West

We welcomed local Bath photographer James Markham to exhibit here at the Brasserie. Showcasing the best of his work in Bath and the South West region, James’ work is highly revered and presents some of the areas most notable landscapes in stunning form. Prints are available to purchase online (jamesmarkham.org/somerset).

August: Wedding season and the Prosecco keeps flowing

We hosted many weddings over the May to September period at our function rooms in Bath, Bath Function Rooms. We were delighted to meet many wonderful couples and help make their day special here at Green Park in Bath.

In addition, festival season kicked on with the Bath Folk Festival hosting another busy month of live music events and free flowing prosecco and beers during a hot summer.

September: more music and partnering with the University of Bath

September saw the continuation on our alfresco live music, plus we partnered up with the University of Bath’s Music Society to host live music sessions across the year. The society are a very talented group of musicians playing a wide breadth of styles and we’re looking forward to seeing more of their performances in 2019.

October: TV appearances, heaters & Brooklyn

You might have caught us on Channel 5’s TV series Britain’s Lost Railways. We were chuffed to be on the series charting the UK’s old rail networks as the producers visited Green Park Station (more on the history of Green Park Station here).

We also added a fantastic beer to the Brasserie bar: Brooklyn Lager. The American Amber Lager picked up Gold at the 2018 World Beer Cup and is going down very well.

Our patio heaters arrived and were installed towards the end of the month. The powerful heaters will offer our alfresco and Bath Pizza Co customers a cosy environment through the Autumn and Winter months.

November: Bath Pizza Co compete at the European Pizza Chef of the Year Finals

Bath Pizza Co head chef Jonah was selected to attend the The European Pizza Chef of the Year Finals. Competing against 30 of Europe’s best pizza chefs, the Bath Pizza Co team took a trip to London for the event and narrowly missed out on claiming the title. We hope to be back next year!

December: ‘tis the season

Christmas party season is currently in full swing and we’re looking forward to a cracking New Year’s Eve party to see in 2019. Lastly, we’ve picked up some wonderful reviews over the years but were over the moon to be recommended by The Sunday Times midway through the month. Thank you to all our wonderful team and customers who helped us achieve this accolade.

The 2018 Bath Christmas Market starts on 22nd November and runs until 9th December.

We’ll be running our Christmas Market Chalet serving up our traditional German Bratwurst, local Venison Sausage and German Mulled Wine (accept no imitations!) as well as Hot Chocolate and Baileys, Vegan Sausages and local Somerset Cider.

Here at the Green Park Brasserie we’ll be serving up our Christmas lunch and famous Christmas dinner and disco in the evenings throughout the end of November and through December.

Menu announced for New Year’s Eve in Bath

Head Chef, Steve Derry has been working on our New Year’s Eve menu which is now available to book. Expect wonderful food, fantastic music and dancing to see the New Year in!

Since 1992 we’ve hosted a popular New Year’s Eve party welcoming Bath locals and visitors to the city. Being located in Bath city centre, we’re within easy walking distance of Bath’s major hotels and have become known for our New Year’s party atmosphere with brilliant food, live music and dancing.

We run a special 6 course tasting menu while our band play upbeat jazz, soul and funk through the night before playing selection of classic New Year’s Eve songs to see in the Midnight point. Now in their 7th year, the Bath Chronicle Business Awards celebrate business success across the city and surrounding areas. Andrew has been shortlisted alongside 3 others in the city and was surprised to make the finals.

Andrew said: “It’s an honour to be shortlisted for the awards. We feel we’ve been part of a positive few years for the city on our side of town as Bath has grown. Of course, a lot has changed since I first took on the business in 1992 - the city has developed, dining preferences shifted - and the nature of our business has had to adapt with it. As a Bathonian, it' will be wonderful to celebrate with many other Bath businesses at the awards evening.”

The Brasserie has become known for its quality food, regular live music and unique setting in the old train station at Green Park, Bath. Over the years the business has picked up glowing reviews and comments from the likes of The Guardian, AOL Travel, Culture Trip and others.

With a unique venue and menu offering, the Brasserie has become a favourite independent restaurant for Bath locals and visitors alike, with a real focus on local produce.

Andrew added: “We’re still proud to support Bath farmers and producers, sourcing some fantastic food and drink from the area, especially the Bath Farmers’ Market (the UK’s very first) which is right on our doorstep every Saturday.”

On tour: Newton Farm

The people behind the produce

We’re exploring the farm yards and cheese dairies that shape our menus.  We recently met up with Hugh and Celia Gay at Newton Farm, just 3 miles from the Brasserie kitchen.

The South Devons herd at Newton Farm, Bath

Hugh is the 3rd generation of the family to farm at Newton St Loe. Tenants of the Duchy of Cornwall, they farm a beef suckler herd of Pedigree South Devons, Aberdeen Angus and Hereford cattle.

“The farm is a traditional mixed farm, with cattle, sheep, pigs, grain and lots of luscious grass. Our livestock have the luxury of living outside on our lush pastures during the spring, summer and autumn.”

Here at the Brasserie we’ve often been called a steak restaurant as almost one thirds of our customers choose one of our Newton Farm steaks (we do design our menus to offers something for everyone though!)

We’ve been buying cuts of fillet, rump and sirloin steak as well as bacon (for our Brasserie Burger) from Hugh and Celia since 2012 - now some of our most popular menu choices.

We’re delighted to share these quality steak cuts with our customers, that are cooked expertly by our chefs.

The Newton Farm livestock have the luxury of living outside where Hugh and Celia breed their own calves who then stay with their mothers for 8-9 months and live on the farm all of their lives. The pasture is in the Higher Level Stewardship scheme, which means no chemical fertilisers or pesticides can be used. The land is full of planted fields with British wild flowers and over 200 trees.

Last year we claimed top spot in HolidayLettings.co.uk's (owned by TripAdvisor) most romantic restaurant in the UK awards and are delighted to be shortlisted for second year in a row.

Group Marketing Manager Alex Peters said: "We're over the moon to be shortlisted for this  award again and to be flying the independent restaurant flag for Bath.

"We've been shortlisted for several local and national awards over the last 12 months. This is down to the fantastic work of our team here at the Brasserie and by sourcing produce from outstanding local suppliers and offering a unique dining experience with our live music."

We're a Bath Life Awards 2018 Finalist!

Green Park Brasserie have been announced as a finalist for the Bath Life 2018 Restaurant Award.

We’re over the moon to have been shortlisted for the Bath Life Restaurant Award 2018.

2017 has been a big year for us here the Braz. Thank you to all of our customers, producers and team who have made the past 12 months a fantastic year for the Braz!

Here’s a run down of some of our highlight moments throughout the year.

In 2017 we:

Celebrated 25 years of business. Owner, Andrew Peters picked up the keys in February 1992 and has made the Braz one of Bath’s most popular independent restaurants.

Helped put Bath on the foodie map. We championed food, drink and good times for the Great Bath Feast with Visit Bath in September.

Went local, local, local. We’ve strengthen our partnership with the Bath Farmers’ Market to produce more locally sourced dishes on our menu.

Blushed a little. We picked up some wonderful recommendations from AOL Travel, Taste of the West and Culture Trip during 2017.

Hosted community events. We partnered further with a series of local event organisers, universities and charities to put on some awesome outdoor events. These included Bath Festivals, Bath Folk Festival, Bath Fringe Festival, Bath Spa University and Julian House.

Got creative. We refreshed our brand identity with a new visual language, website and on site creative. We also shot a short promo video, which we’re rather proud of.

Diversified. We’ve had an awesome year with our younger sibling business, Bath Pizza Co. Together we’ve co-hosted some great events and look forward to another busy year of wood fired pizza, top local beers and cider and the famous £10 pizza and prosecco or pint deal!

Got all romantic. We picked up ‘UK’s most romantic restaurant’ award by HolidayLettings.co.uk (TripAdvisor) after being shortlisted against some of the country’s good and great restaurant across the land.

Turned up the music. We love welcoming Bath’s finest musicians to the Braz. Every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening we host live music. A mixture of acoustic, jazz, soul and funk, we’ve also put on outdoor gigs with Bath Pizza Co under the Green Park Station roof.

Supported local projects. We're pleased to be at the heart of Green Park on the west side of Bath city centre. One of our many community engagement initiatives saw us help out the Bath Spa University team at Green Park House accommodation to litter pick the local park and riverside area. We're looking forward to the 2018  projects!

Green Park Brasserie officially the UK’s most romantic restaurant

We’ve been announced as the UK’s most romantic restaurant! After being shortlisted by TripAdvisor’s company Holiday Lettings as one of the 11 most romantic restaurants in the UK, Green Park Brasserie won the most votes to take the title.

Thank you to all of our customers who felt the love for the Braz and voted for us.

Andrew Peters, Owner, Green Park Brasserie said: “We’re delighted to win this award. It’s 25 years this February since we opened our doors; from day one we’ve been creating local seasonal menus and been hosting Bath’s best jazz and acoustic musicians in our setting in the historic Green Park Station booking hall - it’s completely unique. With our food, wine, music and venue coming together it does make for a very romantic ambience.”  

The competition also included Bath’s Menu Gordon Jones, the very popular Cinnamon Club in London and Edinburgh’s Aizle amongst other top UK restaurants in Belfast, Oxford, Manchester and Birmingham.

We'd like to thank all of our fantastic food and wine producers, musicians and front of house and kitchen staff who have helped the Brasserie win this award with their hard work over the years.

We'll be celebrating our 25th year later in the summer - the champagne is on ice. Keep an eye out for details.

Historical images of Green Park Station, Bath

Green Park Station then and now. A VISUAL HISTORY OF GREEN PARK STATION IN BATH

A thriving hub of independent traders, market stall holders and artisan products, Green Park Station is now home to Bath's independent community. Green Park Brasserie now occupies the main booking hall with it’s sister business Bath Pizza Co located on the main platform space to the rear, beneath the Victorian vaulted glass roof.

We recently stumbled upon some old images of the former railway station during its in-between years, from its decommission in the late 1960s and it the redevelopment in the 1980's.

The front of Green Park Station in Bath after the station was decommissioned. The original cobbled front pavings remains today, but the road space has been reconfigured with parking only at the rear of the building in the former station.

Boarded up. The Station side facade between the active use of the station and its redevelopment. The station is now a thriving independent community of traders and markets throughout the week and weekends.

'Bath Green Park' Station was originally known as Queen Square - the square still some 500 metres from the station. Green Park Station was opened in 1870 and acted as the terminus of Midland Railway's Mangotsfield and Bath Branch Line.

Live music, great food and local traders on a Saturday morning at Green Park Station in October 2016.

Architect John Holloway Sanders designed the station buildings which have since been renovated after the station was decommissioned and the last passenger train left Green Park in 1966 following the Beeching Report.

With the last goods train leaving the station in 1971 it wasn't until the 1980s when the space was redeveloped and Sainburys Green Park store opened in December 1982.

The popular Bath Farmers' Market which runs every Saturday from 8am - 1.30pm. Local farmers, producers and traders from Bath and Somerset sell meats, veg, cheeses, apple juice, free from produce, cakes, breads, olives and more.

Currently exhibiting: Bath Instagrammers

In September 2016 we welcomed the @IgersBath community to exhibit here at the Green Park Brasserie. Over 900 photographs were entered to the exhibition on the #igersbathgreenpark hashtag with the community moderators choosing 25 of the best images.

Two months later we welcomed the exhibitors and their guests to our opening preview celebrating the best photography of Bath, by the people of Bath. 

The images are hanging on the Brasserie walls and prints are available to purchase by contacting the photographer directly (see labels for contact details).
